I think I can speak for almost all girls that we love an opportunity to slip on some stilettos and slide into that Little Black Dress that has been hiding at the back of our closet for hoo knows how long. And all the more if the occasion is more purposeful than our most prized lip plumper…
I recently joined some gal pals at the LBD Rescue Mission event that the Leduc City Life Church put on for the Home of Hope Dream Centre in Kenya. The night consisted of hors d’oeuvres and a haute couture fashion show — showcasing outfits reflective of a slumdog millionairess.
Home of Hope Kenya is a charitable organization based out of Red Deer, Alberta, that is rescuing babies left to die in the slums. Reportedly 20 babies are being thrown away each month in one 30-acre slum. Since Home of Hope opened the Dream Centre in Kenya in January 2011, 10 dear babies have been rescued!
This cause completely rivets me. To find out how you can help make change in your world from where you are go to http://www.kenya.homeofhope.ca
The LBD Rescue Mission event raised over $9000.00. This money will go a long way in providing medical care and nurture of these precious “rescued” children.
