Patiently Waiting

patience |ˈpā sh əns|

the capacity to accept or tolerate delay, trouble, or suffering without getting angry or upset

It’s a gruelling process this adoption. There are so many uncertainties, but one thing is certain. Well two, actually. First of all, we are certain that God has the perfect child for our family. And secondly, although we don’t understand the process of how & when He will bring this child into our lives, we do know that we will eventually be united.

“He honors the childless wife in her home; he makes her happy by giving her children.” Psm 113

As my patience is being stretched to the max, I’m learning to turn to and trust God. I’m sure he is working behind the scenes. The renovations we’ve been doing in our home have also been showing me that although externally things don’t look like they are progressing–internally they are being changed day by day.

If you are in the same state of waiting….and waiting….for your referral or for something else in your life, here are some encouraging scriptures:

“But if we hope for what is still unseen by us, we wait for it with patience and composure.” Rom. 8:25

“[We pray] that you may be invigorated and strengthened with all power according to the might of His glory, [to exercise] every kind of endurance and patience (perseverance and forbearance) with joy.” Col. 1:11

“In order that you may not grow disinterested and become [spiritual] sluggards, but imitators, behaving as do those who through faith (by their leaning of the entire personality on God in Christ in absolute trust and confidence in His power, wisdom, and goodness) and by practice of patient endurance and waiting are [now] inheriting the promises.” Heb. 6:12

“For you have need of steadfast patience and endurance, so that you may perform and fully accomplish the will of God, and thus receive and carry away [and enjoy to the full] what is promised.” Heb. 10:36
